The Guilderton Lighthouse is the last brick built lighthouse in Australia and stands proudly on the dunes at the north of the Groyne. Built in , with specially tapered red clay bricks, it stands 32 metres high and operates as an automatic marine beacon. Placed on top is the white lantern house which contained a triple bulls-eye lens that displayed a light that had a range of 22 nautical miles.

It serves today as the only major navigation aid between Fremantle and Jurien Bay. The original bulls-eye lamp is now on display in the Guilderton Country Club, having been replaced by a Tungsten Halogen lamp. Motor boats can be launched on the river from the boat ramp on the foreshore. Location 1 on map above. Please be aware, there is a 5 knot speed limit on all parts of the river. There is no ocean boat ramp at Guilderton. Launching boats from the beach at the north side of the Groyne can be treacherous. There is mini golf and a skate park at the Country Club Recreational Grounds. There are ablutions at all venues. Moore River Cruises offer a variety of different cruises.

I think it comes down to knowing your dog and what sort of solution works. You could speak to the caravan park owners and ask them if they know of any dog minders in the area or dog kennels. These are usually happy to take dogs for a day or half a day.

Vets in regional areas will often look after dogs for a few hours too. In any case, getting your dog used to being on their own or with other people before you travel is probably a good idea.
